Our Eyes After 40

As we age over 40, our eyes start to age as well. One common change is called Presbyopia. When we are young, our eyes work with an “autofocus” function to effortlessly maintain clear and sustained close-up vision. However, due to physiological changes after 40, many people require magnification to enhance their vision when reading, working on a computer or using the phone. During your eye exam, our Doctors will assess your symptoms and review your daily visual demands to prescribe the perfect visual correction.

Presbyopia is corrected with single vision reading or computer glasses, lined or no-line bifocals (Progressive glasses) and multifocal contact lenses.

Additionally, an annual Comprehensive Eye Exam with Dilation is highly recommended for anyone over 40 due to increased risk of Dry Eyes, Glaucoma, Cataracts, Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Diabetic or Hypertensive Retinopathy.
