About Retinal Eye Exam

A dilated eye exam is essential for evaluating the health of the inside of the eyes including the retina, blood vessels and Optic Nerve. Side effects are mild and resolve after a couple of hours, they include unfocused vision at near and sun sensitivity. Dilation eye drops work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that control the pupils’ reaction to light, this allows us to see inside the eyes with a specialized light and lens.

A dilated eye exam is routinely indicated for patients of all ages to detect and monitor for diseases of the retina such as birth marks, degeneration, retinal holes and tears, diabetic bleeding and glaucoma. We also provide Wellness Retinal Imaging services as an alternative to the dilation drops. Your doctor will help you determine which test is best for you.
